The decision as to whether or not a dog will be registered with limited or full registration is left solely to the litter owner(s).
Limited Registration Limited Registration means that the dog is registered with AKC but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration. No offspring (litters) of that dog for which Limited Registration has been granted is eligible for registration. Each registration certificate for such dog shall carry notice of the limitation, and the limitation shall continue, regardless of any change of ownership, unless and until the owner(s) of the litter at birth shall apply to AKC for removal of the limitation.” Under the limited registration the dog is eligible to compete in all AKC licensed events except breed competition at an AKC licensed dog show. Limited registration is a tool with which the litter owner protects their breeding program. All of my “pet” puppy/dogs here at Brislin Chihuahuas sold with limited registration are bound under contracts. I do not give AKC registration papers until I receive a vet certification that the puppy/dog has been altered. Puppies being sold MUST be spayed/neutered by the age of 7 months. Any puppy sold as a pet should NOT be bred. This is simply for the improvement and maintenance of the breeding line for Chihuahuas. Please note that just because a puppy is available as a pet does not necessarily indicate that the puppy is substandard! It can simply be because the puppy will be too small, have a slight flaw or has too sweet of an attitude for the ring! Not every puppy is destined for the show ring, but every puppy can definitely be loved!
